Natasha Bagchi recently announced her run for Horsham Council.
Who is Natasha?
Natasha has over 20 years of experience as a Global Commercial Marketing Leader. She works in the pharmaceutical industry and most recently led Digital Marketing Strategy for Pfizer's LATAM countries. Just this past fall, Natasha made the decision to start her own Pharmaceutical Marketing Consulting company, where she could harness her professional experience at Ernst & Young, Deloitte Consulting, and Merck. Now, she helps companies deliver true value to their patients and customers by reimagining health and wellness using design thinking approaches and cultivating the power of mindfulness, neuroscience and agility.
In 2003, Natasha married her husband Indranil, upon which Natasha moved from New York to Horsham. Indranil earned his PhD in Health Economics and is currently the Senior Vice President and Head of Global Value and Access at Novartis. They have two children, Celina (12) and Ishaan (7). Celina started playing soccer with Horsham Soccer Association when she was just 4, with mom and dad coaching the team. After 7 years of both rec and travel with HSA, Celina moved to PA Rush. She swam with Hatboro Horsham Aquatics Association for 3 years after learning to swim fantastically in the school district program at Simmons. Ishaan followed in his sister's footsteps and has been playing with HSA for 3 years, and he joined their Travel Team just this past fall. Ishaan also plays for Hatters Hoops and wants to join the Hatboro Horsham Aquatics Association as well. While at Simmons Elementary, Celina was identified as a gifted student and participated in the weekly enrichment program. After the 4th grade, Natasha and Indranil decided to move Celina to Germantown Academy to further meet their expectations on rigorous academics and a strong culture of diversity. Both Celina and Ishaan are currently students at GA.
Along with her membership in many professional organizations and meetups, Natasha is a member of the United Nations Association and has served on various non-profit boards focusing on eliminating Child Sex Trafficking. Until 2017, Natasha was part of a Sustainable Development Committee helping the UN to achieve their 2030 goals. Natasha has a very deep commitment to children's interests and protecting the vulnerable.
Natasha is an artist who loves painting and sewing. She and her husband are committed to physical fitness, well being and practice Mindfulness. On occasion, she enjoys strumming a guitar... though she is self taught so not that good yet!
Why is Natasha Running for Horsham Council?
In her own words:
"15 years ago my husband and I built our first home here in Horsham because this community was we wanted to raise our children. Unfortunately, since then, we watched Horsham lose ground as neighboring townships kept building more, advancing more, retaining business and even enticing some current Horsham businesses to move to their community. We've watched as their schools have maintained and even improved their ratings and, the residents have more services and opportunities. Horsham leaders are still gloating about being recognized as "one of the best places to live in America"- except that was in 2013! Horsham has made little progress since 2013. Our Naval Air Base is deteriorating everyday; the base has caused our water to be laced with toxic chemicals and outrageously, we are each paying to clean it; most of our commercial spaces are outdated and unattractive; our walking score is a nonexistent 23; our school district is disappointingly ranked 180th out of 603 in the state.... We've all watched as Horsham has fallen behind!"
What is Natasha hoping to accomplish?
Natasha has developed the following platform:
"Let's rethink economic development: I want to reduce the economic burden on residents by incentivizing businesses to commit in Horsham and grow even more in Horsham. When Horsham is good for business, business invests in Horsham and our residents get more services and benefits.
Let's get shovels in the ground at the Naval Base: The base is an eye sore and is the cause of our toxic drinking water, I have proven ideas to accelerate the remediation so that we don't have to rely on water filters forever, and we can launch the NAS-JRB Willow Grove Redevelopment Plan, generating powerful revenue for community reinvestment
Let's be a welcoming community: Studies show that communities enriched with a diverse population tend to have better schools and higher median incomes, I want to develop ways to attract new residents and grow our diversity population and enrich the culture of Horsham
Let's get students in control: I want to help empower the student population to demand the school district meet higher expectations of academic excellence and compete with our neighboring districts
Let's increase the value of our property: By becoming a go-to city for new residences and businesses, we can finally start seeing our house values increase at the same rate (or even better) as those in our neighboring communities
Let's modernize Horsham: With diligent planning and a whole lot of outlook, we can push for progress and modernize Horsham by leveraging existing resources, adding bike lanes on streets and, build sidewalks to increase our walk score
I am running for council because I care about Horsham and I believe I can make Horsham more holistically attractive for residences and businesses.
I have successfully navigated complex organizations burdened with bureaucracy and I can navigate Horsham too
I have 20 years of experience as a senior executive marketing leader working across the globe
I have managed budgets in the tens of millions
I have worked within the top Management Consulting firms and the #1 pharmaceutical company, Pfizer, amongst others
I know how to brand and sell and, I have a proven track record of getting things done.
I can navigate complex, highly regulated and bureaucratic systems successfully
I am a collaborative, team player and I know how to make people successful
When Horsham is a more attractive place to do business, we will generate substantial revenues to reinvest in our community and reduce the burden on residents.
As your council member, I will work collaboratively and rapidly across the Township to pick up the pace and move us all forward."
