    News from MontcoPA:

MontcoPA New Voting System Demo, October 5, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Montco PA will have an Open House of their new #MontcoPA voter verified paper ballot Voting System!

Residents will have the opportunity to test out the new voting system, which is also ADA compliant, in College Hall on the Central Campus of the Montgomery County Community College, 340 Morris Road, Blue Bell, PA 19422

More information on the new voting system can be found at https://www.montcopa.org/votingsystem

Click here to register for the October 5 event

Montgomery County Voter Services will set up five simulated polling locations for voters to experience the new system first-hand.

The new system replaces the electronic push-button voting machines the County purchased in 1996 that were at the end of their useful life. The old machines also did not meet the state mandate for counties to have a voting system with a verifiable paper trail in place for the 2020 Presidential election.

With the new system, most voters will use a pen to fill out a ballot and have an opportunity to check it for accuracy before submitting it to a scanner that tabulate the votes and keep the ballot in a secure container for audits or recounts.

Each polling place will also have an ADA touchscreen machine that can be used to select candidates. When the voter is done filling out the ballot, they can review their selections and print out a paper ballot that will be submitted to a scanner for tabulation the same as the ballots filled out by hand.

You've heard this before: Local elections are won in the summer!

But the results from the May primary show that door-to-door canvassing is the most effective way to get people to the polls. Data from the the primary show a double-digit increase in turnout from registered Democrats who were canvassed compared to similar Democrats who were not. It also didn’t matter if they were canvassed early or late in the campaign. That’s why we are canvassing over the summer and can use your help. Now that the weather is moderating, make a plan to canvass at least once between now and Labor Day. We will have experienced canvassers there to go out with you, so if you haven't canvassed before, no worries. It is also a great way to introduce your children (or grandchildren) to grass roots democracy. And, stay tuned for a big canvassing event after Labor Day.”

We are canvassing twice each week. Grab a hat, sunscreen and a water bottle and join us!

    Weekends:

Pick up walk sheets between 10 and 11 AM on Saturdays at The Barn at 524 Cedar Hill Rd., Ambler 19002.

    Wednesday afternoons 4-6 PM:

Meet at Council candidate Lisa Cellini’s house

Want to canvass on your own time? NO PROBLEM. Email Mike Rodin and he will send you walk sheets, or help get you started on MiniVAN, the digital way to canvass.
