Absentee Voting
If you are not going to be able to vote on Election Day you can still make your voice heard by voting via absentee ballot. The process is simple and straightforward. You submit your application to vote by absentee ballot (available here) or write a letter with the same set of information. It must be received by Voter Services at least one week before the election date. They will send you your official ballot. Your completed ballot must be delivered to Voter Services by the Friday before the election. Here’s the information you need to vote via absentee ballot:
Who Qualifies to Vote Via Absentee Ballot?
You can apply for an absentee ballot if:
- You expect to be absent from the Township on Election Day while the polls are open – OR –
- You are ill and unable to vote at your polling place – OR –
- You have a physical disability and are unable to operate a voting machine or vote at your polling place
If you are permanently ill or disabled you may request to be placed on a list to automatically receive an absentee application prior to every election in which you are eligible to vote. Call the Election Board office at 610-278-3275 for assistance.
How do I apply for an absentee ballot?
You can apply using an official absentee ballot application or by sending a letter with the same information to the Election Board. Applications are available online or at many government offices and libraries.
If you send a letter requesting an absentee ballot the following information is required:
- Name of registered voter
- Montgomery County address of registered voter
- Address where absentee ballot is to be sent
- Date of birth
- Reason for absentee ballot
- Signature of registered voter requesting the absentee ballot

When do I need to complete the absentee voting process?
Your absentee ballot application must be received by the Election Board at least one week prior to the election. For the 2012 general election, your absentee ballot application must be received by the Election Board by October 20, 2012. However, we urge you to file early to ensure that your mail is delivered well before the deadline.
Your completed ballot must be received by the Friday before the election. For the 2012 general election, your ballot must be received by November 2, 2012.
