Important Dates

The election calendar is laid out well in advance. There are several key dates that impact your rights and ability to vote.

Primary Election — April 24, 2012

The polls are open from 7 AM to 8 PM. The best times to vote are in the middle of the day if you are able. Many people choose to vote before or after work. You will be allowed to vote if you are inside the polling place before it closes regardless of whether there are any other people waiting to vote.

Voter Registration for 2012

  • The last day to register to vote in the April primary is March 26, 2012.
  • The last day to register to vote in the November general election is October 9, 2012.

Voting by Absentee Ballot in 2012

  • The last days to apply for absentee ballots are April 17, 2012 for the primary, and October 20, 2012 for the general election (applications received by this date).
  • Completed absentee ballots must be received by April 20, 2012 for the primary, and November 2, 2012 for the general election.
