We had a great meeting on June 18th. In case you missed it, we heard a rundown of the primary. The headline there is that Democratic turnout is up almost 100% in Horsham and over 150% in Hatboro from four years ago. We are clearly building momentum!
While that is great, we can’t afford to slow down. The Republicans increased their 2017 turnout in Horsham by over 60%. In order for our candidates to win in November, we have to start now talking to voters, Republicans and Independents as well as Democrats.
WE ARE KICKING OFF OUR GENERAL ELECTION DOOR-TO-DOOR CANVASSING
In order to win in November, we need to persuade Republicans and Independents to vote for our candidates. The first step is to talk to those whom we believe may be open to the idea. Over the summer, we will be speaking to these voters, as well as Democrats, to introduce our candidates and see if they already are supporters or are open to be persuaded to vote with us in November. To do this, we will be canvassing during the week as well as on weekends.
Pick up walk sheets between 10 and 11 AM on Saturdays. This Saturday, we will be at Pat Costello’s, 119 Holly Dr., Hatboro, 19040. Most Saturdays we will kick-off from The Barn at 524 Cedar Hill Rd., Ambler 19002.
Wednesday afternoons 4-6 PM:
Starting Wednesday, June 26, and each Wednesday thereafter, meet at Lisa Cellini’s house, 1201 Balmoral Way, Maple Glen 19002 except for July 17, where we will start from Natasha Bagchi’s house at 1385 Bryant Ct., Ambler 19002
Please make a plan to come canvassing at least once. We will provide training and pair you up with an experienced canvasser until you feel comfortable.
I know canvassing is important, but it just isn’t for me, what I can do to help?
We know that many people want to help, but aren’t able to or don’t feel comfortable canvassing. If that is you, here are ways you can help now:
- Drive canvassers around their routes
- Pick up campaign material
- Help assemble walk packages of campaign literature
It really improves our canvassing speed on to drive canvassers between stretches of houses. Depending on the size of the turf, it could take 2-3 hours on weekends, less for the Wednesday canvassing.
Every week or so we need to pick up walk sheets in Norristown and literature from the printer in Cheltenham during the work week. Each trip will take less than an hour.
It is a big help to canvassers to have the campaign literature bundled to match the number of houses on a route. You can do this in your home any time you have a few minutes.
As the campaign develops, there will be additional opportunities
