Ballot Drop Boxes Available on October 29th

Montgomery County Voter Services has announced there will be 12 Secure Ballot Drop Boxes available beginning on Saturday, October 29th through Tuesday, November 8th.

The closest locations for Horsham voters are in Upper Dublin and Upper Moreland:

Upper Dublin - Upper Dublin Library

Available 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. from October 29, 2022, until November 8, 2022.

Upper Dublin Library, 520 Virginia Drive, Fort Washington, PA 19034

Upper Moreland - Willow Grove Annex

Available 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. from October 29, 2022, until November 8, 2022.

Willow Grove Annex, 102 N. York Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090

All 12 of the Ballot Drop Box locations are listed in the Voter Services news release.

Before depositing mail-in or absentee ballots into the drop-off box, voter must make sure their completed ballot is placed inside the smaller, secrecy envelope first. Then, put the sealed secrecy envelope into the official return envelope and complete the voter’s declaration on the back. Ballots that are not in both envelopes cannot be counted per Pennsylvania Election Code.

Pursuant to the Pennsylvania Election Code, voted ballots may only be returned by the individual voter and not by any other individuals. All drop box locations are monitored using CCTV video surveillance. Anyone depositing a ballot that does not belong to them will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office.

If a voter has an illness or disability that prevents them from dropping off their ballot, they can designate an agent to pick up or drop off their ballot. The agent can only pick up or drop off ballots for voters who are in the same household, and the ballot can only be picked up at Montgomery County Voter Services located at 425 Swede St., 6th Floor, Norristown, PA 19401.

Upcoming Deadlines

  • Monday, October 24, 2022: Deadline to register to vote or make changes to your voter registration. You must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Pennsylvania 30 days before the election. You may register to vote and apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot. at www.montcopa.org/VoteByMail.
  • Tuesday, November 1, 2022: Deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot. The Voter Services office in One Montgomery Plaza will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 1, 2022, for people who want to apply in person.

Voters are strongly encouraged to check their voter registration to make sure that their address, name, and party affiliation is correct well ahead of the deadline. Montgomery County residents can check their voter registration online at www.vote.pa.gov. The voter registration profile will also provide residents the address of their polling location and indicate if they are on the list to receive a ballot by mail for the November Election.

Ballot status will update online at the Department of State website. Voters who provided an email address on their application will receive an email when the Montgomery County Election Board has received the ballot. All mail-in ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on November 8, 2022 – postmarks do not apply.

Any voter who was approved for a mail-in or absentee ballot and later decides to vote in person may do so. Voters should bring their ballot and envelopes to the polls with them to be voided by a poll worker, enabling the voter to vote in person. If a voter does not bring their mail-in ballot they can fill out a provisional ballot, which will only be counted once the Election Board verifies that the voter did not cast a ballot any other way.

2022 Poll Workers Needed

Election Day couldn't be run successfully without the hard work of volunteers who are both elected and assigned. Some of the jobs include Judge Of Election (commonly referred to as a JOE), Majority and Minority Inspectors, Clerk and Machine Operator. If your precinct already has elected officials for these roles, they may already be fully staffed but your assistance may be needed in another precinct that is not fully staffed. Montgomery County Voter Services, along with the precinct JOE, handles the scheduling of assigned poll workers. The county has recently begun reaching out to elected officials and those who have served in the role most recently during the primary.

If you'd like to be an inside Poll Worker, and if you haven't done so already, please submit a Pennsylvania Poll Worker Interest Form, regardless of whether or not you have previously worked inside.

We at the Horsham Democratic Committee can assist with your questions and somewhat with scheduling, but as mentioned above, the formal sign-up happens through the County. Poll worker training will be offered by the County. Reach out to [email protected] if you have questions about signing up or the roles.

Thank you for helping to ensure free and fair elections in our community!
